Player Issues
If you experience any difficulty playing your Blu-ray discs, please ensure that your player has an available manufacturer update. If you are still experiencing issues after you update your player, please report your issue in our Contact Us section.

Sometimes when you play a DVD or Blu-ray, there will be no audio when the movie starts to play. This is normally caused when your player defaults to the incorrect audio track. To correct this issue, please follow the steps below:

1. Play the movie.

2. Locate the "Audio" button on your player's remote control.

3. Press the "Audio" button as many times as needed until the correct audio track is selected, and you can hear the full movie audio.

If these tips do not resolve your issue, please contact us and we will be happy to provide further assistance.

DVDs and DVD players are created for specific regions of the globe due to variations in releases and markets. To properly play a DVD, the DVD player must be the same region as the disc being played. A number in a globe icon identifies the region of both the disc and the player. This region number can be found on both the discs’ packaging and the disc itself. On the DVD player, it is usually displayed on the back panel of the player.

The 8 Regions are listed below:

1: Canada, U.S., and U.S. Territories

2: Japan, Europe, South Africa, and the Middle East (Including Egypt)

3: Southeast Asia, East Asia, and Hong Kong

4: Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Central America, Mexico, South America, and the Caribbean

5: Former Soviet Union, Indian Subcontinent, Africa, North Korea, and Mongolia

6: China

7: Not assigned

8: Special International Venues (airplanes, cruise ships, etc.)

Blu-ray discs also have region coding similar to DVDs. However, instead of eight regions, Blu-ray uses only three:

Region A: North, Central, South America, Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia.

Region B: Europe (EU), Africa, Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand.

Region C: Russia, India, China, and the rest of the world.

Select titles are released as Region ABC, meaning they are playable in all regions.

Since DVDs and Blu-ray discs are read by a laser, they are resistant - to a point - to fingerprints, dust, smudges, and scratches. However, surface contaminants and scratches can cause playback errors, so it's a good idea to take care of your discs.

- Handle only at the hub or outer edge; don't touch the shiny surface with greasy fingers.

- Store in a protective case when not in use.

- Do not bend the disc when taking it out of the case, and be careful not to scratch the disc when placing it in the case or in the player tray.

- Make certain the disc is properly seated in the player tray before you close it.

- Keep away from radiators/heaters, hot equipment surfaces, direct sunlight (near a window or in a car during hot weather), pets, small children, and other destructive forces. Magnetic fields have no affect on DVDs.
The simple answer is that Blu-ray is a high-definition format and DVD is a standard-definition format. Much like the evolution from VHS to DVD, the Blu-ray format has received broad support from major entertainment providers, consumer electronics, and personal computer companies as a successor to the current DVD format. Ultimately, Blu-ray represents a revolutionary improvement over DVD in terms of picture and sound quality, and advanced interactivity, delivering a whole new way to experience movies, games and music.
Yes. Blu-ray players are fully backwards compatible with existing DVDs. In fact, Blu-ray players will support upscaling of DVDs to near high-definition quality, so your existing DVD collection will look even better than before.

Disney's FastPlay is a technology that puts you in control of your viewing preferences. You can choose to use your remote and navigate through our user-friendly EasyFind menus, or you can simply put in the disk and go sit down and relax and the DVD automatically begins. You don't have to push a button! You can watch the feature presentation just like you would in theaters. After the trailers and feature, stay tuned for an exciting selection of Bonus Features.

Disney's FastPlay technology was designed with families in mind. Many children under 8 years old aren't able to easily navigate a DVD. It also gives parents the option to put a DVD on for their child/children without having to wait and navigate through the Menu. All Disney DVDs that have Disney's FastPlay will be clearly identified on the front of the package, the spine, the back of the package, and on the disc.

Closed Captioning allows persons with hearing disabilities to have access to the Blu-ray disc or DVD by displaying the audio portion of the film as text on the video screen.

This logo indicates that the main programming is available with closed captioning. Additional information on the package indicates what other programming is closed captioned.

For additional information, visit FCC Consumer Facts-Closed Captioning

"SDH" subtitles appear as regular subtitles, including important non-dialog audio and speaker identification, useful when the viewer cannot otherwise visually tell who is speaking.

This logo indicates that SDH subtitles are available for the main programming. Additional information on the package indicates what other programming is available with SDH subtitles.

This Copy Protection icon indicates that the content on the disc is encrypted with protection technology. The disc cannot be copied.

Blu-ray disc is the next generation format for high definition entertainment. It was developed to enable recording, rewriting and playback of high-definition content, as well as storing large amounts of data. Blu-ray discs offer up to five times the storage capacity of standard DVDs and represent the next step in packaged media to complement your HDTV.

All Second Screen apps are now closed.

The decision was difficult to make, but we feel it’s best to focus our energy and resources into making new digital experiences for our fans and community. We greatly appreciate all of the amazing engagement, passion and commitment to our apps. Thank you!
A single HDMI cable is the latest innovation to carry multiple-channel audio and high definition digital video signals from your Blu-ray player to your HDTV or HD projector. Connection is simple and only takes a moment. Because the HDMI cable eliminates the analog cable and is capable of transferring digital sources, the Blu-ray disc's source material remains in its original digital form and transfers without conversion directly to the HDTV for the best possible audio/visual experience directly from the disc.

Scratches on a DVD can cause issues with disc playback. Try to clean the disc using a slightly dampened soft cloth or a DVD polishing kit if necessary.

Blu-ray Disc is the next generation optical disc format that offers up to 50GB of storage capacity and recording, rewriting and playback of high-definition video (HD) in all of the HD resolutions, including 1080p.

Picture quality is mostly dependent on bit rates. Blu-ray Disc can deliver data transfer rates up to 48 Mbps (megabits per second). The Blu-Ray format also supports high-definition audio formats.

Discs marked with the logo above play in Blu-ray Disc players and drives, which are also usually marked with this logo, and Sony's PlayStation 3.

The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) and The National Association of Theater Owners (NATO) operate the film rating system. The ratings are issued by a board of parents who review the films.

A G-rated motion picture contains nothing in theme, language, nudity, sex, violence or other matters that, in the view of the Rating Board, would offend parents whose younger children view the motion picture.

A PG-rated motion picture should be investigated by parents before they let their younger children attend. The PG rating indicates, in the view of the Rating Board, that parents may consider some material unsuitable for their children, and parents should make that decision.

A PG-13 rating is a sterner warning to parents to determine whether their children under age 13 should view the motion picture, as some material might not be suited for them. A PG-13 motion picture may go beyond the PG rating in theme, violence, nudity, sensuality, language, adult activities or other elements, but does not reach the restricted R category.

An R-rated motion picture, in the view of the Rating Board, contains some adult material. An R-rated motion picture may include adult themes, adult activity, hard language, intense or persistent violence, sexually-oriented nudity, drug abuse or other elements. Children under 17 are not allowed to attend R-rated motion pictures unaccompanied by a parent or adult guardian.

An NC-17 rated motion picture is one that, in the view of the Rating Board, most parents would consider too adult for their children 17 and under. An NC-17 rating can be based on violence, sex, aberrational behavior, drug abuse or any other element that most parents would consider too strong and therefore off-limits for viewing by their children. No children are admitted to these motion pictures.

For additional information on film ratings, please visit mpaa.org. For information on the rating of a specific film, please visit filmratings.com.

The television industry designed a TV ratings system to give parents more information about the content and age-appropriateness of TV programs. The ratings apply to most television programs, however, sports and news shows do not carry ratings.

Television ratings appear in the upper left corner of the TV screen at the beginning of TV shows, and often again after commercial breaks.

Programming your MICKEY MOTE is as Easy as 1, 2, 3!

First, use a screwdriver to open the compartment on the back of the MICKEY MOTE and insert two AAA batteries (not included).

Now, turn ON your MICKEY MOTE by pressing and holding down any two buttons until the green light between the ears comes on.

Place the MICKEY MOTE and the DVD Remote Control on a flat surface about 3 inches apart, with the top-front of the remotes touching each other.

  1. Press the UP button on your DVD player’s remote control 4 times slowly. After each of your first 3 presses, the green light on the MICKEY MOTE will go off – then come back on.
  2. After the fourth press, the green light will flash quickly, then turn off and come back on. Good job! You’ve just programmed the UP arrow!
  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for each of the remaining buttons on your DVD player’s remote control – DOWN, LEFT, and RIGHT – in that exact order. Once all 4 arrows have been correctly programmed, the green light will flash quickly and then stay off.

Don’'t worry if you make a mistake. If an error occurs, a red light will come on, flash slowly and then go off. Then the green light will come back on. Just repeat the set-up for that arrow button. Previously learned arrows don’t need reprogramming.

If you are having troubles programming your MICKEY MOTE, try the following tips:

When pressing the buttons on your remote control, press the buttons firmly and slowly, with a solid pause between each button press.

As all DVD player remote controls are different, a distance of 3 inches apart between the remotes may not be ideal. Try programming the MICKEY MOTE with both remotes nearly touching. If this does not work, gradually place the remotes further apart with each attempt.

If your remote still fails to program, you can always use your standard DVD remote control in place of the MICKEY MOTE. The UP, DOWN, LEFT, and RIGHT arrows on your remote control will correspond to the same buttons on the MICKEY MOTE. You can also Contact Us for more troubleshooting tips. When contacting us, please be sure to include the make and model of your DVD player.

Please contact us or call 1-800-723-4763 (US)/1-888-877-2843 (Canada).
