What is Disney Digital Copy and how does it work?

Disney Digital Copy is the Disney-branded Digital Copy experience, which enables buyers of DVD and Blu-ray to receive the standard definition digital version of the movie in their choice of iTunes or Windows Media formats. The Disney Digital Copy is located on a stand-alone disc and is Mac & PC compatible.

Disney Digital Copy works as follows:

-Insert Disney Digital Copy disc into Mac or PC computers
-Follow on-screen instructions
-Select iTunes or Windows Media format (Mac computers are iTunes only)
-Enter unique activation code from insert & redeem Disney Digital Copy
-Watch the movie on your computer and/or transfer the movie file to iTunes or Windows Media compatible devices.

Digital Copy Plus (without disc)

Digital Copy Plus is a website that allows you to redeem a Digital Copy with the participating provider of your choice from any web browser on a connected device. In addition, you can unlock great offers, rewards, and extras  all by simply entering your code. Please note offers and participating providers may vary by title and by region; please enter your code to find out what you can unlock!

Digital Copy Plus operates best on the following browsers:

What if there is no Disney Digital Copy code sheet in my case or my code sheet is blank?

If you need a replacement activation code for your Disney Digital Copy, you may request a one-time replacement code. Please submit your request via our Contact Us page. When contacting us, be sure to include the following information:

  • The 6-digit stock number that is listed on the base of the spine of your DVD or Blu-ray package. This number will start in either a 0 or a 1.
  • The disc artwork number from your DVD or Blu-ray. Look at the printed label side of your disc, the disc artwork number is found at the very end and is 5-7 digits in length.
  • The UPC number located under the barcode on your DVD or Blu-ray package.
What happens if I lose my Disney Digital Copy insert?
If you already used your code at Disney Movie Rewards and no longer have the code sheet, the code is recorded in your account and can be accessed at any time.

Please sign in to Disney Movie Rewards and click on the "My DMR" tab. In the "Points Earned" section, it should list all of your redeemed codes. Please use those codes to download the Disney Digital Copy.

If you have misplaced or discarded your Disney Digital Copy activation code you may take part in our one-time courtesy replacement program.  Please submit your request via our Contact Us page. When contacting us, be sure to include the following information:

What are the minimum requirements to properly enjoy my Disney Digital Copy?
Minimum system requirements:

  • Internet connection and DVD-ROM drive

  • Mac Users:
  • iTunes 7.6 or later on Mac OS X 10.4.9 or later if using QuickTime with iTunes 8.0 upgrade to QT 7.5.5.

  • PC Users:
  • Windows Media Player 11 or later on Windows XP or Windows Vista with latest Windows service pack recommended or for iTunes Windows Media Player 10 or later on Windows XP 32 bit or Vista and/or iTunes 7.6 or later. iTunes is not supported in Windows XP 64-bit operating systems.

  • iTunes file requires an iTunes account

  • All files require a minimum of 1-2 GB of storage on your computer.

  • Portable media player must be Windows Media PlaysForSure compatible or Certified for Windows Vista Compatible or be an iTunes video-enabled iPod, iPhone or Apple TV.
What types of portable devices will my Disney Digital Copy be compatible with?
For the Windows Media format, portable devices must be Windows Media PlaysForSure with Video compatible or Certified for Windows Vista compatible. For the iTunes format, portable devices must be an iTunes video-enabled iPod, iPhone or Apple TV.
Can I use my Disney Digital Copy code more than once?
No. You are permitted to use your unique code only once.
Does the unique code for the Disney Digital Copy expire?
Due to overwhelming demand, all Disney Digital Copy codes have been extended to 24 months after release date.

What if I get an invalid code error message when using my Disney Digital Copy code?
Please verify that you have not previously entered this code on another computer and that you are entering the correct characters. If you have not previously used your Disney Digital Copy Activation code and are still receiving an Invalid Code error message please submit your issue via the Contact Us form on this site.
If I delete my Disney Digital Copy from my computer, can I transfer it again later?
  • Windows Media format:
No. When you download your Disney Digital Copy, to your computer, you use your unique code, which can only be used once. Therefore, if you delete your movie from your computer and attempt a second transfer, the unique code will not work. Disney strongly recommends backing up your files to avoid losing your Disney Digital Copy.

  • iTunes format:
Standard iTunes usage rules apply.
What do I do if I get a Security Component Upgrade message when I try to install my Digital Copy?
If you receive a "Security Component Upgrade Needed" message when trying to install your Digital Copy, you will need to upgrade your computer’s security components. To do this, please follow the steps listed below:
  1. Visit Microsoft’s Security Component Upgradewebsite and click on the "Upgrade" button.

     

  2. If the "Upgrade" button is not clickable, please follow the steps listed below:
    • Windows XP Users:Click the yellow ActiveX control bar found at the top of the Web page to run ActiveX controls, and then click on the "Upgrade" button, which should now be clickable.

       

    • Windows Vista or 7 Users: At the top of the web page, navigate to Tools\Internet Options\Security Tab, and uncheck the box next to "Enable Protected Mode". Click "Apply", and then click "Okay". Finally, refresh your browser by pressing F5 on your keyboard, and then click on the "Upgrade" button, which should now be clickable.

     

  3. When the security component upgrade is complete, restart your computer.

     

  4. When the computer has finished restarting, re-insert the Digital Copy disc and follow all on-screen instructions.
